When a baby willingly accepts a bottle with ease, it's most natural to offer the bottle in a nursing position, cradled in your arms. Just like with nursing, making eye contact, touching, and talking with baby is important. Plan to burp baby at least once in the feeding. Switching sides during the feed is another good idea. What feeding position does your baby prefer?
There are no rules as to when you should burp your baby, some babies need burping during their feed, some after. Look for clues; if your baby seems uncomfortable or fussy or restless while feeding, have a little burping break. If they seem fine throughout the feed, then wait until they've finished. Your baby will let you know!
