Meet This Month’s Legendairy Little, Nuri

Each month we donate a portion of our sales to a child with medical needs through the Legendairy Littles program. This month’s recipient is Nuri

After a routine ultrasound, Nuri’s family learned that she suffered from IUGR. Mom was then rushed to the hospital where she learned her body was suffering from severe preeclampsia and baby needed to be born. Nuri was born April 2020 at 28 weeks 5 days weighing just 1 pound 12 ounces and appearing to be approximately 4 weeks behind her ideal weight for a 28 week premie.

While in the NICU, Nuri had a few complications. She struggled with fluid overload that would cause issues with her lungs as well as difficulties gaining weight. Doctors would discover that the fluid excess in her lungs was due to her throat muscles not opening and closing as they should, called Laryngomalacia. This was diagnosed after Nuri had aspired once at home and stopped breathing for 4 minutes.

Nuri has also been diagnosed with an Atrial Septum defect that is twice as large as expected for an infant her age. Her doctors monitor this closely in case  surgery is needed.

Nuri is growing and developing at home right now. She is working on trying solid foods while her parents watch carefully for aspiration incidents. Her heart is closely monitored by her team of doctors as is her Laryngomalacia. The Legendairy Littles donation will help Nuri’s family with the ongoing expenses of her care.
