Meet This Month's Legendairy Little, Ellaree

Each month, we donate of portion of our profits to a child with medical needs through the Legendairy Littles program. For the month of May we have selected a two year old named Ellaree.

In June, 2017 Ellaree suffered a SIDS episode that led to a hypoxic brain injury.  Three days after her SIDS episode, doctors told the family that she was brain dead and her family was encouraged to “pull the plug” by doctors. Ellaree was given only 0.57% chance of being able to leave the hospital alive. But mere hours later, Ellaree began to show her strength and slowly began to wake up. After a month of being in the hospital, she was able to finish all of her feedings with a bottle, something the family was told she would never be able to do. Ellaree’s family continued to give her all of the support that she needed to show her strength. They worked tirelessly to find the right support system, the right doctors and therapists, and Ellaree was able to begin looking around and moving her head. Her family even moved out of state to find the best medical team to support Ellaree in her continued journey.

Ellaree is now a big sister! It is with this addition to the family that she still has a deep love for breastmilk, which is the one item that is not difficult to feed her. Ellaree is currently using a motorized wheelchair at her therapy sessions that she is able to control by simply moving her head to tap switches on either side. Ellaree is so full of joy and excitement when she is in this chair. The donation from Legendairy Milk will help with a portion of the out of pocket expense of this wheelchair. If you would like to make a donation directly to Ellaree’s family, their GoFundMe is https://www.gofundme.com/wheelchair-and-equipment-for-ellaree
