Meet This Month's Legendairy Little, Sammie

Each month we donate a portion of our profits to a child with medical needs through the Legendairy Littles program. The month of November we have selected Sammie who is diagnosed with 18p Deletion.

Sammie is a beautiful 20 month old who has been diagnosed with 18p Deletion. Because of this rare genetic disorder, Sammie suffers from hypoventilation syndrome, seizures, and low muscle tone. Sammie has a tracheostomy for help breathing and a g-tube for help with feedings. If you see Sammie around, she probably will have a cool washcloth on her head to help keep her cool since she can not regulate her own body temperature. In August, Sammie had surgery to correct her left club foot. She has now been given leg braces that we will be wearing for the next few years. Riga Fede disease is an additional diagnosis that Sammie has which is characterized by backward and forward movements of the tongue over the mandibular anterior incisors. It was because of this that Sammie has recently needed to have her bottom teeth pulled out. Sammie is in love with her Mommy and Daddy and is working hard at all of her weekly appointments. She has recently learned to give kisses to those that she loves the most.

The Legendairy Littles donation to Sammie’s family will help with costs associated with multiple weekly doctor appointments.
