Meet June's Legendairy Little, Caroline Georgia

Each month we donate a portion of our proceeds to a child with medical needs through the Legendairy Littles program. During the month of June, we will be featuring Caroline Georgia.

Caroline Georgia was born in October 2023 with a rare medical condition called 

Junctional Epidermolysis Bullosa (JEB). This group of rare genetic conditions affects one in every 50,000 children and is one of the four types of Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB). JEB is a group of genetic conditions that cause fragile and blistering skin. Injuries to the skin can happen from something as simple as rubbing against something. Bandaging and special clothing are some of the most common ways to help prevent infections and further injuring the skin. In addition to the skin, hair loss, abnormal toe and fingernails can happen. Blistering can take place inside the mouth and along the digestive tract resulting in malnutrition issues . There is no cure for EB/JEB, but there are ways to improve the quality of life.

Caroline Georgia will be undergoing Gentamicin Gene Therapy as part of a trial study with Stanford. Her family is hopeful that the gene therapy will promote healing to her airway so that she can continue to breathe comfortably while her wounds heal. Unfortunately, because of the type of medication compounded during this trial, Caroline Georgia’s insurance is not covering any of the financial burden of the trial. In addition to the costs of medical care, Caroline Georgia requires special wound care supplies, clothing, and even special bottles to help keep her safe. All of these additional costs have made a significant impact on her family.

Caroline Georgia loves Dr. Suess’ “Are You my Mother? ”. She loves to share her sweet voice with those around her with her favorite songs “Tiny Butterfly Warrior” and “Caroline”. You can often find her enjoying her favorite Bambi plush stuffie or watching Ms. Rachel.
