Each month we donate a portion of our proceeds to a child with medical needs through the
Legendairy Littles program. During the month of August 2024, we will be featuring Westley.
At the 20-week anatomy ultrasound, it was found that Westley had severe hydronephrosis. Because of this diagnosis, his parents were required to drive 100 miles to a high-risk OB doctor twice a week. At 36 weeks gestation, his parents relocated 550 miles from their home to ensure that Westley had the best specialists when he was born. When Westley was born, he was found to have posterior urethral valves. This complication required surgery at only 4 days old in order to allow his urine to flow out of his bladder. Westley is such a strong Little. Since birth, he has also been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, with both kidneys functioning between 15-20%. In his early childhood, Westley will need a kidney transplant.
All of his medical complexities have caused Westley’s immune system to be weakened and his body to have a high energy consumption from the work his kidneys have to do. Within the first thirteen months of life, Westley has been hospitalized five times with various illnesses, each resulting in various lengths of stay in the PICU. Westley has been life-flighted three times to various PICUs to receive care.
Westley loves Elmon, spending time outside with his mom and dad, and watching his two dogs run around the yard. He loves to give high-fives and cheesy smiles to everyone he meets. Ever since he was born, Westley has loved the song “You Are My Sunshine”.
During the month of August Legendairy Milk will be making a donation to Westley’s family to help with his ongoing medical expenses. You can donate directly to Westley’s family through their
