Each month we donate a portion of our proceeds to a child with medical needs through the Legendairy Littles program. During the month of March, we will be featuring Alexander.
Due to a placental abruption, Alexander was born prematurely at 27-weeks gestation. His first month in the NICU was going smoothly until he experienced Necrotizing Enterocolitis (NEC). NEC has the potential to be life threatening in infants, it is an intestinal disease where the intestinal tissue becomes inflamed, damaged, and can die. Even with requiring four surgeries during his NICU stay, Alexander was known to his care team as being such a happy baby!
Alexander would spend 142 days in the hospital before being discharged. When he was discharged he was on IV nutrition and had a g-tube placed. Because of his complex medical needs, he required a home health nurse. Alexander needs to attend medical appointments multiple times per month with specialists who are two hours away.
Alexander has an older sibling who was eager to welcome him home. He loves to cuddle and snuggle with his lovey blanket and his mom. He is now learning to use his voice and enjoys “talking” to his older brother. His favorite book is “Love You Forever” by Robert Munsch, but any book that is read to him is very enjoyed.
During the month of March Legendairy Milk will be helping Alexander's family to help with his ongoing medical bills.
