Each month we donate a portion of our proceeds to a child with medical needs through the Legendairy Littles program. During the month of July, we will be featuring Isabella. Legendairy Milk is making a financial contribution to Isabella’s family.
Baby Isabella was born at 37 weeks gestation weighing 5 pounds and appeared healthy. At two days old, she was enjoying being home when she stopped eating, became lethargic, and started to show signs of labored breathing. After being rushed to the nearest hospital, she stopped breathing and required CPR. The hospital promptly transferred Isabella to a hospital with a better equipped NICU for further evaluation. While in the NICU, her kidneys and liver began to show signs of failure. The medical team saw signs of blood clotting issues and she required multiple medications to maintain a stable blood pressure. As the team continued to evaluate Isabella, she went on to require multiple platelet and blood transfusions as well as oxygen support.
Eventually, Isabella was transferred to a third hospital where she has been since. Doctors were still unsure what was causing Isabella’s unique symptoms. She had been tested for many items including bacterial and viral infections, sepsis, genetic disorder, and metabolic conditions. Isabella was on dialysis for multiple weeks in order to help protect the functioning of her kidneys and support her liver. Unfortunately, Isabella passed away in early June from her unknown condition. All that she ever experienced was the love of her family.
Isabella took after her Mom with her desire to continue fighting this unknown condition. Isabella’s mom was diagnosed with Breast Cancer three years ago and has been fighting cancer and complications ever since. Isabella’s Dad has been a source of consistent love and support to both Isabella and her Mom during this time. Mom and Dad did not leave her side while she was hospitalized.
Isabella loved the song “Hush Little Baby” and the book “The Runaway Bunny” by Margaret Wise Brown. She enjoyed playing with her favorite stuffy: a light up strawberry plush. Although she loved her parents dearly, her favorite person was her big brother, Joey.
